The new millennial mantra for Fleet Management – Web-based and hosted on Cloud!!!

Traditionally, Transport / Fleet Management Systems have been implemented across global Enterprises as Client-Server Systems, often accessible only via desktops at the office.  However, in the new millennium, Organizations have been increasingly feeling the exponential power that a web-based Fleet Management System wields, hosted on Cloud.

Significantly reduced ownership cost

Traditional Client-Server based applications require you to install them on the office Workstations.  However with web-browser based Fleet Management System all you require to do is, just access the application hosted on the cloud through your web browser.  You’ll only be prompted to enter your Role-based authentication/login for accessing it. You often get the powerful feel of using a mainframe application, but with easy-use Windows features.

Updating to the next version is very easy

Upgrades of Fleet Management System on Cloud automatically happens.  AS and when the next version is released by the Vendor, updates to the same are automatically applied.  So, the next time you log in to your Fleet Management application, you often find a prompt message indicating that the software is being updated before you login.  With traditional Client-Server applications, however, problems were aplenty. You would often run into problems such as unsupportive releases, database errors, resulting in key modules becoming non-operative.  With browser-based applications hosted on Cloud, however, such problems have become a thing of the past.

Anytime-Anywhere access

Being web browser-based applications hosted on Cloud platform, you can access the application from anywhere anytime.  You only require providing your authenticated login credentials. With legacy Client-Server applications, however, you’ll need to physically be present in the office at your Workstation to access the application.  The benefit of cloud-based web browser applications is that they are accessible to a larger number of Users, wherein decision-making will be far quicker.

Operational across platforms

The main advantage of web browser applications hosted on Cloud is that they are accessible via any type of devices such as Desktops, Laptops, mobile phones, tablets etc.  Users can access the application even while travelling or at remote locations. Whereas this was unthinkable during the Client-Server application era.

Multiple-application Integration

Cloud-based applications accessed via browsers have the robustness to integrate multiple utilities and applications to Fleet Management.  Along with your Fleet Management application, you will be able to access a whole lot more applications integrated to it such as HR, Tyre & Fuel Management, Financial Accounting and much more.  Whereas with Client-Server systems, such integrations required a good amount of time and money being spent, There was no guarantee of compatibility to newer features to be compatible with the integration.

Best possible Security feature

One of the best possible advantages of a cloud-based web application is that they can be configured for the Intranet services of any particular corporate system, with customized firewall and anti-malware features in place.  This coupled along with role-based login authenticated access, there can be no better security feature for any Enterprise.
